Corralejo Beach

Corralejo Beach in the northern part of the island is a beautiful stretch of beach along 6 miles of coastline which borders a national park, the main beach areas around the town tend to be busy in the summer months so for a more secluded area head for the end that borders the national park where you can also take a walk through the famous Fuerteventura Dunes.

Playa Esmerelda

In the south of the island in Costa Calma, Playa Esmerelda with its golden sand beach is very popular and has always been known as a paradise beach.

Sotavento Beach

Sotavento Beach is the ultimate surfer's paradise! The beach has a low tide and a nice sea temperature. The beach has a peaceful atmosphere and an unspoiled coastline. Thanks to the ease of finding deserted areas along the coastline it's very popular with nudists.

Majorero Cheese

Majorero Cheese a firm goat milk cheese unique to Fuerteventura. The wheels of the cheese are rubbed in olive oil, paprika or a mix of corn meal and wheat meal called gofio. They also make a smoked version. A delicious cheese that goes well with a nice white wine.

Mojo Picón

Mojo Picón is the Canary Islands signature sauce and literally eaten with anything. It’s a must at every table no matter what dinner you're enjoying. Made with olives, oil, garlic, paprika, cumin and vinegar a delicious accompaniment to any meal.

Papas Arrugás

Papas Arrugás, traditionally cooked potatoes cooked in super salty seawater baked until wrinkly. They are perfect when served with some of the Mojo Picón sauce. Fresh fish is served all over the island with restaurants serving the fresh catch of the day. Parrot Fish is highly recommended.

The Atalayita Arecheological Interpretation Centre

To truly immerse yourself in Fuerteventura you must visit the best-preserved archaeological site on the island, The Atalayita Arecheological Interpretation Centre. Visit the old aboriginal houses once home to the Mahos, that are built into the caves in the lava walls. The village has more than 115 archaeological buildings in the valley of Pozo Negro. There is an exhibition that tells the story of life in the town throughout history, from the exhibit you can also collect a brochure that marks the route you should follow through the village for a better understanding of the buildings you will visit. To grab a great panoramic view of the village you can climb to the top of the Atalayita.

The Museum of Miguel de Unamuno

The Museum of Miguel de Unamuno is a dedication to the life and work of the famous writer and Philosopher and can be found in Puerto del Rosario. The museum recreates a home from the 19th Century where the writer stayed. On display are personal belongings which include a period desk gifted to him by a Fuerteventura friend Ramón Castañeyra Schamann where we can only imagine he wrote some of his famous pieces, manuscripts and photographs of the writer.

The Salt Museum and Salinas del Carmen

The Salt Museum and Salinas del Carmen is an interesting place to visit giving visitors a firsthand experience of how they make salt from the ocean's waves through exhibits inside the museum and an operational saline outside. The museum has experienced guides to ensure you make the most out of your visit. The only salt pan that remains open to visitors. Don’t forget to grab yourself a packet of the salt produced here from the gift shop on your way out.

Ajuy Caves

on the west coast of Fuerteventura in the village of Ajuy. Explore the oldest rocks in the Canary Islands with black sandy beaches and volcanic landscapes. Ajuy caves, which allow you to journey back through the island’s geological history. The caves are estimated to be centuries old and created by the submarine flow of lava and sediment from when the island was formed 100 million years ago. Ajuy Caves are an example of what nature can do. A natural Monument since 1987, they are fully protected as part of the Betancuria Rural Park. The caves are extremely important and are among the 150 sites of primary geological interest in the world. An excellent site to witness.

Corralejo Natural Park

Corralejo Natural Park is 3000 hectares featuring large stretches of sand dunes and sandy white beaches. The landscape in the large park is unique and a perfect family day out. The sand dunes are the finest in the Canary Islands and a perfect place to enjoy the beautiful Canarian sunshine.

Oasis Park

A fun family day out can be found at the world-famous Oasis Park, a chance to get up close and personal with exotic animals such as Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Lemurs and Flamingos along with interactive shows with Sea Lions, Birds of Prey, Reptiles and Parrot shows. One of the best experiences you can have in the park is a walk with the Lemurs interacting with these amazing creatures. The park has restaurants where you can enjoy lunch and a souvenir shop to remind you of your day. The park is a fantastic way to spend a full day out with family and friends.
