Corendon Airlines Support For The ITÜ APIS Team!


Corendon Airlines, contributing significantly to Turkish tourism thanks to the considerable number of tourists it carries to Turkey, continues to support education and aviation and became sponsor of the APIS Team that was established by Space and Aviation Technics students of the ITÜ (Istanbul Technical University). Under the sponsorship of Corendon, the Team participated in the 14th International ODTÜ Robot Days, a competition in which many national and international robot-enthusiasts participated.  The competition, held on March 4 and 5, 2017  in the campus of ODTÜ (Middel East Technical University in Ankara) was divided into four categories:  “Free Category”, “Waste collecting”, “Labyrinth solving” and “Drawing”. The ITÜ APIS Team competited in the “Labyrinth solving” competition and among 26 contestants it achieved the fifth place.
 
 
 
About ITÜ APIS Team
 
The APIS Research Satelite Team was established in 2015 by Space and Aviation Technics students of the Technical University of Istanbul to represent the university and to participate in national and international competitions, held on different platforms.
 
APIS represented Turkey and on behalf of TÜBITAK participated in the APSCO (Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization) Model Satelite Competition 2016. APSCO was established by 9 cooperating countries to research space in Asia. The Team won the first place.
 
During the CANSAT competition (www.cansatcompetition.com) held in Texas in 2016 under the sponsorship of NASA, the APIS Team won the ninth place among 120 contestants, thanks to a success score of 99,25% in design and 83,32% success in the general category with a prototype of a engine-less aircraft with retractable wings for unmanned flights.
