Palace in Wilanów

Royal Castle
In the 17th century, it was one of Europe's most beautiful royal palaces. Built as the seat of the Dukes of Masovia in the 14th century, it was blown up during World War II. The castle was rebuilt in 1971, and in 1980, together with the Old Town, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. It currently has collections of many valuable items and original works of art. Every day the Warsaw bugle-call sounds from the Clock Tower of the Castle at 11:15 am to commemorate the clock stopping at this time during the bombing of the Castle on September 17, 1939.
The Old Town Square
The Old Town Square was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries when Warsaw received city rights. The square consists of 40 buildings decorated with Renaissance, Baroque, Gothic, and Neoclassical elements. At the end of World War II, 90% of the Old Town was bombed, and after five years, it was rebuilt with all the original details to such an extent that in 1980 the Old Town was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Only facades number 34 and 36 resisted the damage.
