Accommodation in Linz

The Altstadt (old town) is in the heart of the city, a great place to stay if you aren't on a budget to ensure you are close to the main attractions on offer within the city and great connections to further afield. Near the central Train Station (Hauptbahnhof) the area is home to many business districts and is quieter than being directly in the old town 2 kilometres away. This is ideal for those who want to explore further afield during their stay but still be able to reach Linz tourist attractions easily. The Northern part of the Danube is a mix of residential and business complexes. Home to the Ars Electronica Centre and its colourful light show against the river. Although set back the centre is easily reached by a great tram service. The city offers everything from cheap hostels and student accommodation to mid-range accommodation of 2 and 3* cheap hotels in Linz up to Luxury 5* hotels. There is something to suit everyone. First, we recommend choosing where you would like to stay and then search for hotels in your budget in the area.

Airport and Transportation

Linz Airport, known as Blue Danube Airport is a small airport that has only one single runway. The airport started in 1909 with the first Zeppelin flight and opened its passenger terminal in 1976 and has since been renovated in 2003. For a small airport it still sees 400,000 passengers each year. The airport has only one Terminal with the arrival hall and departure check in desks on the ground floor and boarding gates on the first floor.

Outside of the arrival halls you will find the bus service 601 which departs every 20 minutes to the City Centre of Linz. Shuttle transfers can be arranged at the counter next to the exit of the arrival hall and vehicles are for 8 pax and chargeable. A convenient way to reach your hotel is by taxi and the taxi rank is located in front of the arrival's hall, we recommend checking the taxi board for the price or making sure the metre is on when you enter the taxi. To make the most out of your stay and to explore as much as possible then why not hire a car from one of the car rental offices located at the airport. We recommend for car hire that this is pre booked in advance to avoid disappointment.

Linz Weather

Linz weather is pleasant and comfortable in the summer months however, rain is always around the corner and winters are particularly cold and thanks to its location on the flat area of central-northern Austria on the Danube river they can also be very snowy winters where the Linz Temperature can fall below zero. The best months to visit Linz and explore with warmer weather is mid-June to Early September.
